Cookie Policy
Effective November 2, 2026. This page describes cookies this website uses and cookies that can be set in front of it. It matches the Privacy Policy.
Cookies, browser storage, and server logs
A cookie is a small piece of data a site asks your browser to keep and send back on later visits. Browser storage, such as local storage, is a separate place in the browser. This website’s code does not write the quote form into either one. Server logs are records on the computer that hosts the site, such as the address of a request and the time it arrived. Logs are not cookies, and they are not stored in your browser.
Advertising and analytics
The pages do not load an advertising tag or an analytics tag. Fonts are files on this host, not a request to another font service. The site does not show a cookie banner. The quote form keeps what you type only in the form itself until you send it, or until your browser’s own autofill does. That is the browser, not a cookie set by these pages.
The private inbox cookie
Saved quotes can be read on a private page that is not in the public menu. That page starts a PHP session as soon as it is opened, including when it is showing the password form. The session is how the server remembers, for that browser, whether the password has been accepted. The cookie carries the session identifier. It is not an advertising cookie, and the public pages do not use it.
The website code does not choose a custom cookie name. PHP’s default name for this cookie is PHPSESSID. The cookie has that name unless the server’s PHP configuration uses a different session name. That server configuration is not part of these website files.
A correct password does not create the cookie for the first time. It marks the session as allowed to view saved quotes, and the server replaces the session identifier. Logging out destroys the session data on the server. The code does not include a step that deletes the cookie from the browser.
The code does not set an expiry time, a Secure flag, an HttpOnly flag, or a SameSite attribute. PHP’s own default is a cookie the browser keeps until the browser session ends. The server’s PHP configuration can change that default. Because that configuration is not in this website, the lifetime on the live server can differ from the PHP default.
Cloudflare
Cloudflare can sit in front of a website and filter traffic before it reaches the server. That role is security and delivery: it can absorb abusive traffic and serve the site through its network. When Cloudflare is in that position, it may set cookies of its own. Those cookies come from Cloudflare, not from the HTML of this site.
This page does not list particular Cloudflare cookies or their lifetimes. The zone settings that would confirm which cookies are actually in use are not part of this website, so those names are not stated here as cookies the site has turned on. Cloudflare’s description of its cookies is in its documentation: Cloudflare cookies.
Your browser
You can block or delete cookies in the browser settings. The public pages are written to open without the inbox cookie. If the browser blocks that cookie, the private inbox cannot remember that the password was accepted, so the saved quotes will not stay open after you enter it.
Changes
If the inbox cookie or the use of Cloudflare changes, this page will be updated and the date at the top will change. The current page is the one that applies.
